Why to Visit Acadia National Park's Beautiful Landscape in the Summer
Acadia National Park, located in the southern part of Maine, is a 50,000 acre national park that goes along the Atlantic Ocean and is home to some beautiful scenery including various lakes, rivers, beaches, mountains and wildlife. The wildlife is very diverse and includes bobcats, various types of fish, beavers and racoons. With over 4,000,000 visitors annually, Acadia National Park is one of the most-visited national parks in the U.S. However it is important to note that this national park is located in Maine, meaning finding the right time to go to avoid the cold winters or rainy spring seasons is very important. With all of this in mind, summer is likely the best time of the year to visit this amazing park and to experience it all to the fullest.
Why to Visit During the Summer
Weather
As previously said, the weather in Acadia National Park is constantly changing so it is important to plan out your trip accordingly. During the winter, Acadia National Park gets several feet of snow which can make fun activities like hiking, fishing and driving along the hills very difficult. In addition to his, temperatures often dip down into the single digits during the night time and reach highs in the low 20s during the day. However, if you visit during the summer months of May, June, July and August, you can expect to experience weather in the mid 70s with comfortably cool breezes throughout the day.
Hiking
Acadia National Park has over 250 trails within the park including various levels of difficulty. Ocean Path is a hike I would recommend to any visitor in Acadia National Park. It is nearly 4 miles round-trip and takes you along the Atlantic Ocean with views of some amazing beaches and forests. For something a little more strenuous, I recommend the South Bubble Trail which takes you 2 miles around the two "bubbles" near Jordan Pond which are these two iconic hills made of granite. More experienced hikers may look towards a more difficult trail like the Precipice Trail which takes you 3 miles up a very steep and open cliff face which rewards you with amazing views of the entire park.
All in all, the summer is a great time to visit Acadia National Park in order to take advantage of the warm weather, open trails, cool breezes, and blooming foliage.
